REVIEW of Incubus Tales by Laura Wright
I loved these stories and devoured them in one sitting. Both stories are well written and I felt like I was really part of the story. These are my first Laura Wright stories, and I gotta say that I will be adding her to my TBR author list from now on. Amazing stories that left me swooning and breathless. A must read for anyone who likes a great romance with hot alphas and tough heroines. Shameless - Rosamund is a Niphilim who is spending a year in a harem for the specific purpose of being impregnated by an Incubus but this is not what she wants so she makes her self appear ugly but adding prosthetic teeth, binding her breasts and wearing a fat suit of sorts under her clothes. She also added oils to her hair and makeup to her face to down play her looks. She did all this because she didn't want to be claimed by an incubus. She is inlove with a human and intends to return to him and live a normal life. Scarus Vipera is a master Incubus. He is attending the harem for the sole purpose of power exchange. He has no desire to procreate or impregnate any Niphilim. He had already been there and done that and had his heart broken to show for it. Scarus picks Rosamund because he can sense the she not only has immense power, but she is also not in a fertile period. He demands that she is bathed and pampered like a queen before they spend their time together. It is at this time that her disguise is discovered and she becomes the true beauty that she is. I don't want to give anymore of this sweet love story away, so I'll just say that the ending is a happy one that left me swooning. Dauntless - This one is Cinderella style story. Casworon Trevanion is a master Incubus. He is attending a ball where he will meet the Niphilim whom his mother has chosen for him to mate with as is their family tradition. Cas does not want this though. He is happy with his life as it is in regards to the women he beds. Elia is a scared and damaged Blade working as a maid at Casworon's castle. She is enamoured with the master but knows that as not only a lowly maid but also a disfigured women, he would never think to look twice at her. Cas requests that his Watchman, Pennice organise 10 women to be prepared for him to enjoy after his mating announcement ball. Pennice agrees but seems to have other plans. Pennice approaches Lia and offers her 1 night of magic that will return her to her post battle state and ensure the master looks her way. This magic works and Lia and Cas spend a magical night together only Lia leaves before dawn so Cas never finds out the truth. Cas figures out who Lia is and of course there is a happy ending.
